Bash is a Unix shell and command language interpreter.
Bash
According to Bash’s official website:
Bash is the GNU Project’s shell—the Bourne Again SHell. This is an sh-compatible shell that incorporates useful features from the Korn shell (ksh) and the C shell (csh). (…) It offers functional improvements over sh for both programming and interactive use.
Bash was first released in 1989, and it’s source code is available on GNU FTP. It has been used as the default login shell for most Linux distributions.
